[A Kargel/Neuhaus production; 1-28 June 2003]
During a four week period in June 2003, we created a network of acoustic
interactions at 22 public places (so-called "nodes") in the
700km long tri-state area between Schaffhausen in Switzerland and Linz
in Austria, including parts of Southern Germany. At the center of this
was a Sculptural Instrument we had developed, called monomobil,
which consists of resonating metal and glass plates, and can be controlled
from two live-electronics stations. The monomobil was conceived
to interact with the specific sound of spaces, interior and exterior.
Thus the atmosphere and acoustics of every place we visited became the
basis of the live-electronic control of the instrument. Due to its physical
properties the monomobil works like an acoustical lens which provided
people visitors and passers-by alike with new "perspectives"
of their acoustic environment.
"In one word: fascinating! ..."

Review of "mono 1/03"
"...what you created was so touching, joyful and in
combination with the whole surrounding so large, that I see it
as a testimony of vitality, chance, beauty. Of what is possible considering
the limited time we are given."
